Obedience
Courses View Class Schedule
Obedience courses consist of four levels: Family Pet 1, 2, 3, 4.
Family Pet 1 includes basic training in SIT, DOWN, COME, STAY, LEASH WALKING, GREETING BEHAVIOR,
and ringing BELLS TO GO OUT.
Family Pet 2 focuses on teaching your dog to resist temptations and use impulse control. This includes training with
off-limit items, to give and hold eye contact when asked, to show willpower with food (dog and owner’s), to ”Come” quickly and reliably, ”Stay” with distractions, “Heel”, and a few tricks.
Family Pet 3 is an intermediate obedience course. This course will
advance past the basic commands and teach your dog to listen at
further distances (up to 30 feet away) and in more distracting environments with the use of long lines. If dogs prove ready, they will be allowed to work off-leash (optional). Dogs are
required to know & be reliable with the following commands at a basic level before attending
this class: sit-stay, down-stay, come, heel, leave it, and watch (eye contact).
Family Pet 4 is an advanced obedience course and will teach your
dog to listen off leash. It is required that dogs have graduated
from Dog Gone Good's FP3 class before attending FP4. Attending our FP3 course off leash is equivalent to our FP4 course.
Tricks
Course View Class Schedule
You will learn how to teach your dog over 20 tricks in this course! Teaching our dogs a variety of tricks is not only a fun way to show
our friends and family how smart our beloved pet is...it's also
further obedience for our dogs. The more we teach our dogs the more
capable they are of learning. If our dogs are challenged and mentally
stimulated daily, they live happy, fulfilled lives and are less
likely to find destructive ways to occupy themselves. Tricks include shake/give paw, roll over, crawl, retrieving, sit pretty/beg, wave hello, cross paws, speak, chase tail, take a bow, treats on paws, high 5, high 10, back up, and more!
Puppy
Kindergarten Classes View Class Schedule
Our Puppy K-G course is a very important part in helping your puppy become a physically and mentally healthy, well trained companion. Proactive exercises to help prevent aggressive and fearful behaviors will be taught in this course. You will also learn helpful tips for potty training, nipping, and destructive chewing. Puppy Kindergarten focuses on socializing your pup and will address
grooming and keeping your puppy healthy.
Socialization in the early stages of your puppy’s life is
essential for him to become a mentally healthy and stable lifelong
companion.
FIT FIDO View Class Schedule
Dogs need exercise daily for both physical and mental health. Boredom and built up energy can also lead to many problematic canine behaviors. Enroll your dog in FIT FIDO and not only will he get a great workout in class, but you will also learn exercises you can do with your furry friend either inside or outside your home. There are no prerequisites for this class other than your dog needs to be able to focus on you in class. However, please note obedience commands or problematic behaviors will not be addressed in this class. Although this class can help with obedience maintenance or refreshing, its focus is exercising Fido. Please bring a dowel rod or similar item such as a stick from a broom, etc. to class.
A La Carte
Classes View Class Schedule
Enroll in our "a la carte" classes to learn new commands or review and improve previously learned behaviors. Since dogs love our training methods, it's also a great way to have some fun, bonding time with your furry friend. We will be adding more "a la carte" classes in the future. Please check back soon for more options.
"Come!" 101 & "Come!" 102 - A reliable recall is one of the most important things you can teach your dog because it can literally save his life! Enroll in either one of these classes or both at a discounted rate. We highly recommend enrolling in both of these classes, no matter how much training your dog has had. If your dog is beyond basic, he will be allowed to work at further distances. "Come!" 102 will include more distractions and temptations for Fido to resist. Participants should bring a 15-30 ft training lead in addition to the standard 4-6 ft leash. (No retractable leashes allowed). It is ideal to have two handlers per dog in these classes, but not required.
Not Yours! - This class teaches the "leave it" command so your dog can learn what items are not for him such as socks, shoes, remote controls, etc. This can also be a life saving command when someone drops something dangerous such as pills on the floor. Valuable information will also be given for teaching the "drop it" command.
Leash Walking 101 & 102 - Leash Walking 101 teaches Fido to walk with a loose leash and to not cross in front of or behind you. Leash Walking 102 addresses "heel" which is a more controlled position and should be used when crossing streets, passing people or dogs on walks, at the veterinarian/groomer, etc. Participants can choose to enroll in 101 or 102 or enroll in both at a discounted rate.
"Stay There!" 101 & "Stay There!" 102 - These classes will teach Fido to stay in one spot which is very useful by open doors, when visitors arrive, at meal time, and much more! Enroll in either one of these classes or both at a discounted rate. We highly recommend enrolling in both of these classes, no matter how much training your dog has had. If your dog is beyond basic, he will be allowed to work at further distances. "Stay There!" 102 will include more distractions and temptations for Fido to resist. Participants should bring a small rug/towel for spot training and a 15-30 ft training lead in addition to the standard 4-6 ft leash. (No retractable leashes allowed).
OUT Please - Would you like to teach your dog to ring bells or bark to go outside? Then this is the class for you! Training literature with tips for housebreaking will also be given.
